Experience

As a Baltimore City prosecutor, Oana Brooks tried hundreds of cases before judges and juries. She handled cases in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City, and the Baltimore City Juvenile Court. Oana’s experience includes prosecuting traffic offenses, such as driving without a license, driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and driving while impaired (DWI); criminal matters such as attempted murder, assault, robbery, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and carjacking; handgun violations including handgun possession and possessing a handgun as a prohibited offender; sexual offense cases; and narcotics violations including possession, possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

In addition to prosecuting cases, Oana made charging decisions and often advised law enforcement on legal sufficiency during investigations. Oana was quickly and repeatedly promoted. She supervised attorneys and conducted legal training; interacted with judges and courtroom personnel on a regular basis; and often attended meetings with city and state agencies, including the Baltimore Police Department, the Department of Juvenile Justice, Parole and Probation, and the Mayor’s Office on Criminal Justice.
